04/30/2004 Archived Entry: "Robot Stories Forever" I'm thoroughly impressed that this independent film, which was originally scheduled for a one-week run in San Francisco and Berkeley, is now entering its third week due to (as Variety might say) boffo box office. Sure, it's only in two theaters now-- I think it started in three-- but the fact that it's still playing at all is great. This is a movie that people should go see. Here's the info: ROBOT STORIESMore moviegoing info at Bay Area Moviegoing.
Replies: 9 comments This seems like a really interesting idea. By combining the robotic themes of good sci-fi and with the otherwise normal occurrences of life (adoption, death, etc.) the film has a chance to be unique and give audiences a chance to have a different perspective on life. I hope the film is either expanded to more theaters across the country or offered online to give us east coast people a chance to see it. Here's hoping this gets me a gmail invite!?! Please? It's a pitty that it will take ages before it comes here to Sao Paulo, Brazil.... Still in the meantime I will stay here watching Hollywoodian movies and waiting for the opportunity of getting a gmail account (computer engineering college students as me gets lots of e-mails). Posted by Arsinoé Wilche @ 04/30/2004 10:20 PM PST Bloody hell mate, you got a whole lotta people doing tricks for you for a gmail invite! Its quite an interesting social experiment per se... sort of putting people through the kinds of thought processes they go through when BSing an essay in college LOL... I would actually be disgusted by all these sad attempts and you're probably thinking right now that this is one of them, which it might be, but prooobably not =D . I'd actually like to work for gOOgle sometime, mind if I ask what college/major you were to get there? Thanks. Posted by daniel @ 05/01/2004 12:30 AM PST I might actually try this on my own blog to see the kinds of responses I get not to mention the mental anguish im gonna put many people through AHAHAhahah Posted by daniel @ 05/01/2004 12:32 AM PST http://tripleoptix.com/gmail/homeless_sign.jpg Posted by Mike Chang @ 05/01/2004 01:14 AM PST Interesting??? Getting everyone to leave a comment (beg) for a gmail account is an interesting idea. Just looking for one too. Please pick me...no reason, I just really would like one. My son just turned one and I survived the first year... Posted by Julie @ 05/03/2004 01:47 PM PST
I hope this movie comes to area near me since I would really enjoy these stories. I love the idea of having people care for robot baby before caring a human baby. That would teach a lot of people whether should have a baby or not. Also love the idea of uploading consciousness into computers and delima that brings with our right to choose death over becoming data. If ever human mind can be digitalized and uploaded, I am not sure I would do it since the idea of 0s and 1s representing my consciousness is scary to me. Posted by David @ 05/03/2004 09:48 PM PST I already have a gmail account. muahahaha. Posted by chris Ferlong @ 08/31/2004 01:22 AM PST
