01/09/2004 Archived Entry: "Frivolous Lawsuit of the Week" Man says he’s addicted to cable; wants to sue Charter Cable TV made a West Bend man addicted to TV, caused his wife to be overweight and his kids to be lazy, he says... Timothy Dumouchel of West Bend [Wisconsin] wants $5,000 or three computers, and a lifetime supply of free Internet service from Charter Communications to settle what he says will be a small claims suit.So this guy wants to cure his TV addiction with... the Internet? Yeah, that'll work. But wait, there's more!
[Dumouchel's complaint stated:] “But the reason I am suing Charter is they did not let me make a decision as to what was best for myself and my family and (they have been) keeping cable (coming) into my home for four years after I asked them to turn it off.”So not only is he angry with his cable company, he's angry with them because they gave him free cable. Does this mean we can sue the broadcast networks for forcing us to watch crappy sitcoms? Oh, wait, that's right, you don't have to watch TV if you don't want to. You are responsible for your own actions (or inactions). In a perfect world, there would actually be laws against this kind of stupidity. Replies: 1 Comment
