It's good for pre-empting programs I actually want to watch in favor of pseudo-news that I really don't care about. What good is having different "channels" if they're all showing the same damn thing?

I had set my PVR to record Angel last night, and since I have satellite TV, I cleverly told it to get a 6:00 PM broadcast from a Denver station, since the 9:00 PM local showing would interfere with The West Wing. Well, West Wing wasn't on last night, and the Denver station (a WB affiliate) broadcast a full hour of CNN's (like The WB, also owned by AOL Time Warner) live coverage of absolutely nothing happening in Baghdad. I swear, they were showing video images that could have been postcards. Bad, uninteresting postcards.

Look: I know what I want, and I know how to get it. I'm free to choose. Don't try to stop me.
