I made the mistake of watching VERITAS: The Quest, the new ABC television series, and let me tell you, it stinks like nobody's business. It's bad enough that nobody seems to think actual archaeology is interesting enough for TV, instead preferring to make up crap like ancient temples beneath Paris and a gi-normous pyramid buried under Antarctica. But this was the last straw: in the second episode, when the protagonists find the latter artifact, the writers go so far as to insult the memory of explorer Ernest Shackleton and the crew of the Endurance by suggesting that they couldn't possibly have survived two years on the ice without some kind of mystical assistance. Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit. Not even Arnold Vosloo, who made the Mummy remakes watchable, can persuade me to waste more time on this garbage.
